Answer

case youre under warranty turn the ps off and leave it off until you get it serviced under the warranty.brbrcase Not under warranty or good with electronics get it fixed by somebody else.brbrcase good enough with tools to assume the risk of selfrepair brbrOpen the case and survey the damage. There are several different ps versions with differing construction, you will find detailed info about opening them at this linkbrbrhttpwww.cybermag.comstationlaserPSabrbrI have given this link to so many people that Yahoo Answers cuts it off and disables it as if it were spam. Its not, its a detailed howto site. Youll have to cut and paste, and add in the cutoff bit. It ends brquotstationlaserPS.htmquotbrbrFollow the instructions for opening your ps. Take a look around in there, compare it to the pictures on cybermag. Browse around that site a bit to see what everything should look like in your ps version. brbrIt sounds like the power supply is probably OK. Check to see that the disc tray is on track and not wedged in a stuck position. If the disc tray has a frontpanel attached, check that its not sticking the tray and preventing it from opening. Follow the instructions for removing the disc tray cover, and look at the laser assembly. Check that it is still on track on both sides. brbrVery gently shake the ps a bit, once its open, to see if anything is rattling around loose. Happens a lot if something breaks.brbrThere are not a lot of loose, movable parts inside a ps. Just about everything in there is securely bolted down. The trauma of being dropped could wreck sensitive electronic components, but if that didnt happen, theres a good chance that something in there is damaged, or bent, but not destroyed.brbrWithout seeing your ps thats about all I can say. Check out the photos on cybermag for your ps version.
